A PRO (or Performing Rights Organization) is a collection society in charge of licensing works by songwriters. Basically, whenever a song is performed publicly, broadcast on film, TV, or radio, or streamed online, PROs collect the royalties generated from those plays and pays them out to songwriters and publishers.
Interested Parties Information, or IPI, is an internationally recognized 11-digit number (add 2 zeros at the beginning if IPI# is listed as 9 digits) used to identify writers and publishers for their works. Note that an IPI# is separate from a PRO account number. An IPI is assigned to you by your PRO and can usually be found in your account information or listed on your works.
