DJ Khaled, Drake, and Lil Baby channel a 70s hit for their new song Staying Alive
DJ Khaled has dropped a music video for his new single “Staying Alive.” In it, fans see collaborators Drake and Lil Baby rapping and singing along while putting in shifts as doctors in the Khaled Khaled Hospital. They run with the TV show theme in different scenes for the extended video.
You may have noticed the Bee Gees band members showing up as writers in the credits. That’s because of the hook where you hear Drake singing the iconic “Ah Ah Ah Ah, Staying Alive” line, in his way. This interpolation makes the songwriters on the 1977 hit, “Stayin’ Alive,” also songwriters on DJ Khaled’s new release.

For clarity, in popular music, interpolation refers to using a melody (or pieces of a melody) from a previously recorded song but re-recording the melody instead of sampling the master copy.
This single will appear on DJ Khaled’s next album, God Did. The album is scheduled to release on August 26 via We The Best Music Group/Epic Records.

DJ Khaled has previously collaborated with Drake including songs like, “No New Friends,” “To the Max “Popstar,” “Greece,” and more. Last year, the rapper linked with Lil Baby on his “Every Chance I Get,” ‘I Did It,” and “Body in Motion” singles.
