Slept On Sunday shines a light on the best of what’s slept on in music and culture.
Sunshine (The Light)
On November 26th, 2020 Amorphous posted his remix of Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better” and Luther Vandross’s “Never Too Much” to Twitter. Since then, it has absolutely blown up. On Twitter alone, the video has 108.1 thousand likes and 31.7 thousand retweets. But on an even bigger stage than that, the beat is now officially out on Fat Joe’s newest single “Sunshine (The Light)“. In just 2 days the video has over 2 million views.
Along with Amorphous, the single was co-produced by Dj Khaled, Cool & Dre as well as Bounce Gvng’s own Shawn Hibbler. However, it’s Amorphous’s name that takes the featured spot. As the official title on streaming platforms is “Sunshine (The Light) (feat. Amorphous)”. This is an incredible accomplishment for someone who posted the original remix only 2 months ago.
The song made quick noise, as it began to be reposted all over social media. One major source, DJ D-Nice, went live on Instagram and featured the single on his set for the night.
“Sunshine” seems like a true moment of manifestation for Amorphous. A quick scroll down his Twitter and you’ll see that he has not been shy about his fandom for Rihanna. And to have the sample cleared by Rihanna and the Luther Vandross estate makes this moment all the more inspiring.
Since the release of “Sunshine,” Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better” has re-entered the UK iTunes chart. A reaction so fitting, Amorphous tweeted “THAT’S CALLED IMPACT.” in response to the news.
Amorphous’s future is looking extremely bright at the moment. Things feel incredibly genuine. And that’s because he got here by staying true to his sound and style. And while this is quite the wave to enjoy, there’s no doubt we’ll be seeing more of his name in the future.
